Uncle of South African Surfing

John "Oom" Whitmore has sometimes been referred to as the father or "uncle" of South African surfing. He was an energetic man with an adventurous spirit and an inquiring mind. He left us on Christmas Eve 2001, but his memory lives on.

I've reformatted the chapter on Oom for easier reading and printing. Please go to: Oom.
